The Wellington Chess Club meets every Thursday evening (excluding January) from 7:30pm at the Wellington Bridge Club, 17 Tinakori Road Thorndon (see map below).
Please don't try to park at the Bridge Club itself, there is plenty of parking two minutes away underneath the motorway on Thorndon Quay.
Thorndon is a charming inner-city suburb of Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. (The coolest little capital in the world according to some people who should know). Competitive players of all strengths will find Wellington Chess Club a great place to enjoy real, old-fashioned over-the-board chess with serious opponents.
What's Hot Right Now
The 2017 Congress has been successfully completed.
Here is the tournament page it includes separate Vega links for all tournaments, and a progressive (updated daily) games file in pgn format.
Thanks to Andrew, Alan and especially Ross (in the face of some nasty head winds) for putting in heaps of preparatory work.
The Club Champs, the year's premier weekly tournament, is over. I am sorry that there has been spotty coverage here - sometimes Ian Sellen does such a good job that I get lazy. Congratulations to all the winners. Each grade had a clear winner. I think it's fair to say that Anthony Ker has won a chess trophy before, but Andrew Stone (B Grade) Jack Baker (C Grade) and Alexis Wevers (D Grade) are debut winners at Wellington Chess Club I believe.
What's Coming Up
Thursday night chess starts again in late January 2017! (19th or 26th? TBD).

Former Club Captain Ian Sellen's blog is a good alternative Wellington Chess Club web resource.
